Dana Weber Harvey

Lawyer

Dana was born and raised a British Columbia girl, having lived in North Vancouver, Prince Rupert and Langley during her formative years. Dana obtained her law degree from the University of British Columbia in 1990 and was called to the bar in 1991. Law was not Dana’s first career, as she had been a newspaper journalist in a previous life, as a newspaper reporter, photographer and editor in Edmonton, Alberta where she was raising her young family during her first marriage. After a sudden and catastrophic illness befell her first husband, she and her young son relocated to British Columbia from Alberta to be near family, and eventually Dana decided to go back to school to study law.

Dana comes to Dreyer and Associates after having spent 15 years with the law firm of Kane Shannon Weiler LLP in Surrey, practicing in the area of family law, real estate and wills and estates. Prior to practicing at KSW, Dana practiced in Langley with her own firm, also in the areas of family law, real estate and wills and estates. She spent approximately 15 years as a courtroom lawyer, conducting hundreds of hearings and trials at all levels of BC’s court system, and another 15 years as a solicitor, crafting agreements and negotiating settlements that fit her clients’ unique circumstances. She brings 30 years of legal and practical experience to Dreyer and Associates, having represented family law clients from all sides of the socio-economic landscape, from high net-worth corporate owners to young mothers struggling with poverty and family violence.

Dana has also spent 30 years practicing in the areas of real estate and wills and estates. She has assisted buyers, sellers, mortgagors, realtors, bankers and mortgage brokers in ensuring that their transactions flow seamlessly from the contract to the keys. She has some unique strata property experience, both with conveyancing and financing and with having served on several strata councils as president over the years.

Dana has also assisted countless clients with their wills, powers of attorney, representation agreements, probate applications and the likes to help ensure her clients’ have a safety net with succession and incapacity planning for themselves and their loved ones.

Dana’s volunteer activities have ranged over her 30 years, having donated her time to numerous law, education and community based service organizations, as well as having served on countless boards and councils. Dana has been a guest instructor with the Law Society’s Professional Legal Training course for law students studying for the bar exam. She has served as president of the strata councils for Waterstone and Nuovo strata projects, and as a director for the La Casa Co-op Housing Society. She has provided free legal advice to the Access to Justice Legal Clinics, served on the Education Committee for Holy Cross Regional Catholic High School and as a director for the Peace Arch Rotary Club.

Dana remarried to her second husband 25 years ago and they reside together with their now grown son in Surrey, BC. Dana is also a grandmother to 11 grandchildren (at most recent count) including her oldest son’s four children and her four step-children’s combined seven children.
